Students in IPD are required to register for two 3-credit courses: TO 448 and IOE 448.
Integrated Product Development --- IPD is a 6-credit experiential, cross-disciplinary course for junior and senior undergraduates. Students from across the university form teams with backgrounds spanning business, engineering, art/architecture, and information sciences. A product challenge is announced, and each team acts as an independent company competing in that product market. Teams must independently work through an integrated exercise consisting of market research, product design, product development and manufacturing, pricing and sales forecasting, while competing with their product against other companies. The course culminates in both a web-based competition and a physical trade show where teams showcase their work.
