Born on Kentucky Derby Day in San Diego, California, her fascination with horses began as a young child. “I knew when I saw my first horse that it was the most important being on earth” she remembers. The horse is a singular subject in all of her work, originally serving as a metaphorical substitute for the artist herself. My work is not so much “about what (horses) look like” she says “but who they are -their internal being.”
